http://www.hilton.co.uk/leicester?WT.srch=1 THE PRO REFERENDUM RALLY BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 27TH OCTOBER 2007 LONDON (Dates, Times and Routes are provisional until confirmed by the London Metropolitan Police) TERMS OF REFERENCE 1. The sole aim of the Pro Referendum Rally organisers is to create a public event through which all British people may focus their efforts to regain their right to a vote on the latest European Treaty. 2. We call on all who believe that this Treaty cannot pass into British law without a direct test by the free vote of all British subjects, to express that belief by physically attending this Rally. 3. The Rally organisers are indifferent as to which way individuals may wish to cast their Referendum vote. The Rally platform will be shared across the political spectrum including non-political speakers representing the professions, trades, the public and private sectors. The common point of unity on the platform will be the earnest call on the Government for a referendum on the latest European Treaty 4. The Rally will be peaceful and conducted in full accordance with the law and cooperation with the London Metropolitan Police AN ARMY OF NATION WIDE VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORTERS 1. Your right to a direct vote on this Treaty will be gained only through a rally of overwhelming numbers drawn from every corner of the United Kingdom. Together we need to rouse, focus and coordinate supporters for the Rally in every village, town and city in the United Kingdom 2. To register your support and volunteer please click here Registration is very simple and will take less than 60 seconds - it is your first step in regaining your vote on the latest European Treaty. Please pass on your acknowledgement email to all relevant addresses in your possession. The first stage of the Rally is an overwhelming registration of supporters on this Pro Referendum Rally website. THE ROUTE 1. There will be 4 separate rally routes into London - North, South, East and West, culminating on The Mall leading to Buckingham Palace. 2. The time of departure for each rally column will be advertised on this website 3. The specific starting points and routes will be advertised on this website. 4. Supporters can join the rally at any point along one of the 4 routes. 5. Each of the 4 routes will be about 5 miles from start to finish. ORGANISATION 1. Supporters who indicate, on registration, that they would like to volunteer for local campaign activities will be put in touch with other volunteers in their area in order to facilitate local coordination of activities. 2. The Pro Referendum Rally organisers will not prescribe the content of local materials and type of local activities. However they would request that local volunteers keep in mind that the Rally is a broad church. The central purpose of local activities is to get the maximum number of people to attend the Rally. 3. The Pro Referendum Rally organisers will not prescribe the content of banners, placards etc on the Rally march. However to demonstrate that the Rally reflects a nation wide determination to gain a referendum on the latest European Treaty, large banners identifying your county and/or village/town/city would be appropriate. 4. Please would all supporters send this website address http://www.proreferendum.co.uk/ to all relevant email addresses that they have in their possession requesting that the addressees similarly pass on the website address RALLY SPEAKERS The names of Rally Speakers will be published on this website. The Pro Referendum Organisers are attempting to construct a platform of Rally Speakers who include known figures from across the political and social spectrum. We welcome all proposals. The Speaker selection guidelines are as follows: a) A clear commitment to using the Rally platform to call on the Government to allow a referendum on the latest European Treaty before it can pass into British law b) Some claim to representativeness. For example this claim could be based on a certain political/pressure group, profession, trade, business, public sector, education, health care, agriculture, public figure, the arts, sport, charity, guild, club, region, village, town or city, etc c) Acceptance of a shared platform for the objective of the Rally d) A Proposer and a Seconder f) A commitment to a peaceful Rally in full accordance with the law CONTACTS Rally Coordination: rally@proreferendumrally.co.uk Press and Public Relations: pr@proreferendumrally.co.uk Rally Speakers: speaker@proreferendumrally.co.uk Website: webmaster@proreferendumrally.co.uk (Rally Coordinator - Dr Jonathan Wilson - Walton-upon-Thames) 17 July 2007
